Built in 1794 by the Ramghariya Misl under the leadership of Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, the
Ramgarhia Bunga is an architectural marvel. It is structurally supported on parabolic arches
decorated with cornices and the projections are supported by architraves and brackets. It
includes two 156 feet tall minarets constructed for surveillance in and around the Darbar
Sahib. When the Sikh Misls led by Jassa Singh Ramgharia, Baghael Singh, and Jassa Singh
Alhuwalia conquered Delhi, the Mughal emperor’s Takht-e-Taus (Peacock Throne), was removed
and paraded around Delhi in chains. The stone slab has since rested in the Ramgharia
Bunga as a symbol of the socio-political power of the Khalsa.
